I ate here last weekend on one of my last nights after a month of traveling through the Canary Islands. I am thankful that I did because it was the best meal that I had during my trip (and I had a number of them). I was intending to photograph the food but after I devoured the first two courses without thinking of photos, I decided not to and just enjoyed the food. Each dish was delicious and different from the last, and highlighted local ingredients. The service was exquisite and the wine recommendations excellent. My one regret is I did the more limited tasting menu, and unlike some tasting menus, when I finished I just wanted more; I was not ready for the experience to end. And the pricing was quite reasonable- in Boston the cost would have been at least twice the amount and I would have happily paid it.
Experienced a perfect evening here. The service was friendly, warm en inviting. The restaurant cosy and beautiful. And the food truly stunning. Grounded firmly in in the food traditions of Gran Canaria, dish after dish was a modern but respectful interpretation of traditional meals. Starting with a lovely welcoming cocktail in the shape of a coffee gin & tonic (truly amazing with a 10 out of 10 presentation) via tomatoes, spinach-chard and chickpea stew, to Canarian creamy rice with mushrooms, and finally to end with the final savoury dish: slow braised pork cheek with mojo. All of the dishes equally delicious. And let's not forget about dessert, I received an off menu dessert catered to my dietary requirements. Gluten-free and mouthwatering. Restaurant Sorondongo is already mentioned in the Michelin guide, but a first star cannot be far away. Truly amazing evening, food and super friendly staff.
A small restaurant with a modern vibe run by a small team of dedicated staff. They offer dishes using finest canarian produce with a burst of flavours. We enjoyed all the dishes very different to what's available at nearby establishments. Service was excellent, all the dishes at time of serving were clearly explained. Great atmosphere in a vibrant old part of the city.
