We had a good stay at Exe hotel. We paid a small fee to have early check in, chocolates and a fruit basket. It was well worth the nominal fee as we were able to check in at 10:00 in the morning, unpack and enjoy the rest of the day. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They are cheerful and we always received a warm greeting whenever we returned to the hotel. We did not have any problems with street noise. Our room had no view to speak of , we just faced an old apartment building across the street. Our room was well taken care of and we slept well. Access to the beach and transit is very handy. It is just a short walk to both. It is lovely to be able to walk on the promenade at the beach where there are many shops and restaurants. The breakfast was okay. We had it both mornings. I do wish that they had told us that there was an additional charge for breakfast. When we checked in, we were just told what the breakfast hours were but there was no mention of an additional charge for breakfast. There is a small rooftop pool and hot tub and I imagine that in the peak season it would be very busy. The problem with the pool area is the lack of umbrellas for shade. There was no shade at all and it was too hot and uncomfortable sitting in the sun. We would stay at Exe again. The service and staff are great, it’s in a good location, the room was comfortable and the price was fair.
