Description
Explore the old town district of Vegueta in Las Palmas to learn about a historical settlement founded in 1478 by castilian troops.
Set off close from Guiniguada Theater (Tasca Bar Picadita) to discover the old quarter’s links to the atlantic maritime navigation. Currently under submission for Unesco World Heritage status, the areas of Vegueta include many beautiful sights.
Walk down cobblestone streets, passing close to the Cathedral of Santa Ana, one of the most important monuments of Canarian architecture. Behind the cathedral lies the Plaza del Pilar Nuevo, a former gathering place for local women to collect water from the central well.
Admire the balconies of traditional houses of the nobility en route to Plaza de San Antonio Abad. Just front you will see the Casa Museo de Colón (Not included), dedicated to the history of Christopher Columbus and the discovery of the American continent by Europeans.
