See the Catedral de Santa Ana, one of the most important religious monuments in the archipelago and at the heart of the Vegueta quarter. It was also the first church on the island, built after the conquest of 1478 on the orders of Los Reyes Católicos, Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II, taking 4 centuries to complete. Therefore it was built in three different styles, gothic, renaissance and neoclassical. Learn about the Casa de Colón, or Columbus House, and discover why its name is deceiving, since Columbus never lived here. This was the governor’s house which was visited by the famous discoverer on his way to America, in 1492. Pass the 19th century Mercado de Vegueta, Gran Canaria's oldest market.
