Description
Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your hotel in southern Gran Canaria. Head to Maspalomas, where your 4x4 vehicle awaits.
Start your journey by ascending to the Mirador de la Degollada de las Yeguas. From this natural balcony, take in the vastness of the Barranco de Fataga, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon” of the island, with views stretching from the dunes to the highest peaks.
Descend into the heart of the valley and explore the picturesque village of Fataga, known as the “Valley of the Thousand Palms.” Wander through its cobblestone streets and admire the authentic island architecture. Take a break for a coffee, stretch your legs, and soak up the tranquility of rural Canarian life.
Learn about the cultivation of aloe vera, the “green gold” of the Canary Islands, and its traditional health applications. Continue your ascent to the Caldera de Tirajana, a volcanic amphitheater of impressive proportions. Stop in the charming village of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, with its immaculate streets, iconic white-domed church, and olive groves, forming a green oasis against the surrounding red cliffs.
Conclude your expedition at the Fortaleza de Ansite, a natural monument and the last refuge of the island’s aboriginal resistance. Explore its caves and famous natural tunnel, feeling the history in every corner, before beginning your final descent towards the coast and returning to your hotel.
